Tempur Pedic Alternatives

When it comes to our beds, comfort and support should always be our top priority and this, of course, extends from buying the mattress to sleeping on it.

If you’re finding that your mattress isn’t comfortable to sleep on, then it’s time to start considering when to buy a new mattress and choosing which one is best for you. As you’ll already know, there are a tonne of brands out there offering mattresses in all material types with different technologies and features to aid sleepers with different issues.

Whether you’re someone who lives in a hot climate, is dealing with back pain, wants a little extra bounce or needs a mattress that aids recovery after working out — there is an option for you out there.

One thing to always keep in mind is that you want to be unapologetic about choosing a new mattress. These purchases are incredibly personal and are going to be with you for decades to come, and dictate how you feel during the day.

If we focus on budget over comfort, you’re risking your spine’s health and also reducing your chance of waking up refreshed everyday.

That in mind, it’s always good to look at the best of the best and go from there when it comes to mattresses. We understand a lot of these beds can be relatively expensive, especially the ones that seem to have all of your pain-points covered.

If you’ve stumbled across the Tempur-Pedic mattresses and had your heart set on one, only to find these are a little too expensive, we have the perfect article for you. Below we’ll go over all of the Tempur-Pedic alternatives that come as close to the real thing as possible.

Take a look.

Why You Should Consider a Tempur-Pedic

To kick things off, we’ll take a look at the excellent features that come with a Tempur-Pedic and why you should consider one of these mattresses above the competition.

There’s a good chance you’ve heard of all the perks that come with a Tempur-Pedic, mainly the fact that the brand was the world’s first to leap into the memory foam industry and has had time to really refine and develop the material.

It’s argued that Tempur changed the way the world slept, and the brand is still working hard on doing this today.

The Tempur-Pedic beds are packed to the gills with proprietary technologies and foams that work to offer a sleep experience that controls your body temperature, contours only to the joints and pressure points that need this support the most, ensuring you’re keeping your spine kept in alignment and joint pain from keeping you awake at night.

To add, Tempur does offer a whole selection of mattresses in different sizes, firmness levels and with exclusive technologies designed for sleepers who need a rather specific set of sleep-aid technologies.

Keep in mind that there is also the selection of Tempur beds that have been designed to offer sleepers that cloud-like sensation as they sleep. These are the ‘Cloud’ models, and are essentially some of the softest and more pressure-relieving beds on the market today.

For back pain, pressure point pain or muscle soreness, we’d stand by the more costly yet far more curated Tempur-Pedic beds for our readers. You’re going to get a great night’s sleep on these beds and there isn’t much that comes close to the experience offered.

All that said, there are a few mattresses on the market that offer a relatively similar experience and use the same types of materials as a Tempur, and we’ll take a look at these below.

These mattresses are top-notch and best in class, though they’re not able to offer a truly genuine Tempur experience.

The Tempur-Pedic Alternatives

We need to start off by saying that if you’ve owned a Tempur mattress before, there isn’t quite anything that will come close to this comfort level than another Tempur Pedic.

There’s generally only one reason that most sleepers make the switch away from a Tempur and that’s the cost. These mattresses really are some of the most expensive on the market and can come with a standard price of around $5,000 which is a lot to stomach when other foam beds can land around $400.

That said, there are some alternatives that are worth considering and we’ve outlined these below for you.

Tuft & Needle

With a fantastic review from Sleepify this year, the Tuft & Needle mattress is one of our top alternatives to the Tempur-Pedic beds.

The mattress is designed with adaptive foam which means you’re getting a sleeping experience that’s a little more curated than on most other beds out there. That in mind, you’re going to experience a sensation that’s a little more comforting when it comes to sore joints and back pain.

With a curated foam, the bed is also going to be your best bet at getting to sleep if you’re a combination sleeper. This mattress gives you the chance to toss and turn through the night and not fall into a deep, uncomfortable and sometimes warm divot.

As mentioned, side, back and tummy sleepers will get on well with the Tuft and Needle mattress and being priced at a whole lot lower than the Tempur Pedic and coming with a ten year warranty, you’re in good hands here.

For more information on the Tuft & Needle mattress, you can take a look at our website.

Zinus

In the eco-conscious category, the Zinus is our winner for replacing a Tempur-Pedic mattress.

This mattress comes with a design that’s been enhanced by plant infusions and that mean you’re getting a more organic and less chemically-based sleep experience. The 12 inch profile Zinus Mattress is infused with Green Tea extract, which assists in more than just adding a dash of fragrance.

The infusion here assists in getting sleepers to bed with a pleasant smell, but also enables the mattress to fight off the odours that often come from decades of use. As you’ll know, a lot of beds do begin to smell over time, though the Zinus combats this with the tea extract.

When it comes to the sleep experience, the mattress has been curated to all sleepers, much like the Tuft and Needle, which means tummy, back and side sleepers will be right at home here. There’s plenty of firmness for the back sleepers who need a solid sleep surface, though the upper comfort layers are plush enough for the shoulders to sink into the bed for pain relief.

Coming in a box, this bed is also a winner for those who want fast and simple shipping rather than having to take care of picking up the bed on their own.

In all, this mattress offers an experience that’s quite similar to the Tempur-Pedic with regards to longevity, comfort and quality foams.

Leesa

One mattress alternative to the Tempur-Pedic that comes exceedingly close to the experience offered on the luxury beds, is the Leesa.

Sleepify has a great comparison on our website between the Leesa and the Cloud Luxe by Tempur if you’re looking for some more information.

The Leesa is a relatively newcomer to the market, though it’s been developed and refined again and again by its creators to offer one of the most well-engineered sleeping experiences out there. We would be hard-pressed to find a better mattress on the market today at this price point.

On the Leesa, you’re going to experience a good level of bounce, plenty of lumbar support and a suite of materials that has been integrated explicitly to ensure you’re getting a good night’s sleep in every sleeping position.

The Leesa was also named the best Direct-to-Consumer bed in the United States last year, making it a fan favourite for more than just the team at Sleepify.

In all, this mattress is certainly a contender for the replacement of a Tempur-Pedic bed.

Honourable Mentions

With the three mattresses above out of the way, we’ll take a look at two other beds that do offer a mildly close experience to a Tempur.

These beds aren’t as well-engineered as the ones above, which means you’re not seeing an all-out cloud-like experience here, though the comfort level and price work wonders for those looking for a Tempur-Pedic Alternative that at least feels like one. Sleep Number is also another mattress company that offers some great alternatives to Tempur-Pedic. We have reviewed this up-and-comer in our new Sleep Number vs Temper-Pedic article.

Take a look at the Tempur-Pedic alternates below.

Purple

The mattress by Purple isn’t entirely a replica or a fantastic Tempur-Pedic alternative, though you will find that there is a lot of material technology coming into play here.

It’s an affordable mattress that’s been designed with all-foam and comes with an eco-friendly assurance in that the bed is actually made from natural and renewable materials, so you’re doing you bit for the planet.

There’s adaptive foams coming into play here, which means you’re seeing a good level of comfort and a nice experience when it comes to alleviating joint pressure and back pain.

One thing to note is that the Purple Mattress has been developed with a Purple Smart Comfort Grid™ system, which essentially means the bed is working hard to keep itself cool and to ensure you’re not dealing with that overly hot and musky foam experience of beds in the past.

Keeping this in mind, the Purple Bed is also offering up fast-adapting dynamic foams which respond well to movement and also bounce back incredibly fast when it’s time to change sleeping positions, and it keeps the upper levels of the mattress nice and cool too.

This is a great perk for those looking for that cool-touch feature from the Tempur-Pedic beds; it isn’t an exact replica, though it does come pretty close. You can also learn how Purple mattress compares to alternatives such as Sleep Number on Sleepify.

There’s a decade-long warranty here and you’ll be getting into bed on a mattress with a tonne of excellent reviews.

Loom & Leaf

Coming from the Saatva warehouses, the Loom & Leaf is our final Tempur-Pedic alternative, and for a good reason.

When compared directly to the mattresses in the Tempur line, we’re happy to say that Loom and Leaf have created a bed that’s almost an exact replica of the LUXEbreeze mattresses.

One of the primary reasons this mattress is landing on our list is because of the price being so incredibly affordable and the mattress offering the cool-gel and cool-to-touch experience that Tempur is known for.

On the Loom & Leaf you’ll find that the foams are engineered to assist with side sleepers more so than back and tummy sleepers, though we remain confident that everyone will have a great night’s sleep here.

There’s also the option of choosing between two different mattresses here, with firmness levels and features that are a little different, which means you do have the chance to curate and get your hands on a mattress that is attuned to your sleep style.

To end, there’s a long sleep trial here of 120 nights and you’re also getting a 10 year warranty too.

Sleepify has compared the Loom & Leaf to the Tempur Cloud Luxe, so you can take a look on our website for this.

The Takeaway

In all, we understand that there’s nothing quite like a Tempur-Pedic mattress, and if you’ve had your heart set on one of these beds — or already have one — it can be hard to turn another direction.

However, the mattresses on our list are far more affordable than a Tempur and can get you very close to the sensation and experience on these high-end mattresses.

We suggest that you do head to a retailer if you’d like to test some of the mattresses above to ensure they feel like your previous Tempur bed, or at least offer a great feel from the outset.

As Tempur-Pedic is somewhat of a luxury brand, you’re going to be paying a premium here, so if price is something that is turning you away from the brand, the beds above are certainly going to tickle your fancy. They feel quite similar and won’t leave such a large dent in your bank account.
