The SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress Review

The SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress Review

When it comes to quality mattresses, there are some brands that come to mind a lot faster than others.

If you hear the phrase ‘memory foam’ for example, there’s a good chance you immediately think Tempur or a Posturepedic mattress. They’re the best of the best in their class, without a doubt, and are a household name because of that.

When we look at the air mattress-class of beds, SoundAsleep can be thought of as the Tempur for the air bed world; and that’s fantastic news for those looking for a quality, durable and reliable air mattress.

In this article, we’ll take a look over some features you’ll find with the Dream Series Mattress from SoundAsleep, and we’ll give you everything you need to know before making a purchase.

We know there’s a lot to consider, so we’ve broken things down for you.

Our Top Choice Inflatable Air Mattresses

To kick off the air mattress review, we’ll quickly outline the other air beds from SoundAsleep that we like the most. Of course, the Dream Series is one of the best out there, though SoundAsleep does make some other best-sellers you can consider for a blow-up mattress.

Keep in mind that the SoundAsleep mattress lineup does feature a few different feature-sets, and that means on some models you’ll see a storage bag included, or a pillow rest and on others, you won’t.

All of these beds below are available in standard sizes from the Single, Twin Size through to King and Queen models. Good to note is that some of these beds also integrate the famous Neverflat Pump, which means these mattresses won’t slowly deflate through the night like the older models.

  • The SoundAsleep Dream Series Air Mattress
  • The SoundAsleep Premium Air Mattress
  • The SoundAsleep Camping Series Air Mattress
  • The SoundAsleep Cloud Nine  Air Mattress

With those other SoundAsleep products out of the way, let’s get into some information about the Dream Series below and why this puncture-resistant air bed mattress should be at the top of your list this year.

An Overview of the Dream Series Bed

To kick things off, this is one of the best-designed and reliable air mattresses from the SoundAsleep warehouse. The model comes in all typical sizes, which is a perk above some other air mattresses that aren’t suitable for Queen-size or King beds, for example.

What makes this mattress one of the best air mattresses on the market from SoundAsleep is the fact it comes with an intelligently laid-out array of air coils. These work to provide the support that is optimal for all joints and pressure points, rather than a whole-body support solution.

Sleepers on this bed will also find that there’s a proprietary air pump solution integrated into this mattress that makes it a whole lot easier to inflate than just about anything we’ve seen so far. The one-click, or ‘patented1Click’ inflation and deflation system is SoundAsleep’s take on an electric pump that allows you to seamlessly blow up this inflatable air bed.

All you’ll have to do is set up the mattress in the space you’d like, plug in the power cable and start inflating. The system will have the bed inflated within just a couple of moments, generally no longer than 3 minutes, and you’re all good to go.

There’s a flocked top integrated into the mattress’s design too, which means you’re getting puncture resistance by-design, rather than just as a result of the high-quality Intex materials here

Another proprietary technology that’s coming into play in this mattress, is the Sure-Grip feature, which enables the mattress to easily adhere to any floor surface or mattress pad and prevent even a larger queen size mattress from moving or shifting too often during the night.

With that in mind, this may be the perfect air bed for those with or without a sleeping pad to put beneath it. We would also stand by this mattress for the kids, as we know that being a little rambunctious can have the mattress slipping and sliding across the room, though with the grip-ability feature, this isn’t an issue.

That said, one final thing to note about the double-height mattress is that the upper flocking is a little thick, which means that for a queen size mattress, or even the single for that matter, it is a little heavier and more difficult to store once you have finished deflating the mattress.

Sleep Experience

When it comes to getting a good night’s sleep on this quilted, and high-quality air bed, you can rest assured that you’re in good hands.

With the built-in air pressure regulation and the plush toppers on this mattress, you’re getting an ultra-supportive and contouring experience that you would normally find in a foam mattress.

Firmness

From reviews online and the SoundAsleep company themselves, it’s clear that the mattress and its PVC material are an ideal solution for those with a partiality to back and stomach sleeping.

As with most airbeds, these models are a little firmer and responsive when compared to memory foam, and this makes them more capable of providing optimal support for the lower back and shoulders when sleeping on your stomach or back.

That in mind, these beds do come with a medium-firm rating, which is good to know considering this is the firmness level that works best for all sleeping positions. However, we would still suggest that back and stomach sleepers place this mattress above other airbeds.

Support

Thanks to the mattress’s intelligently distributed air coils, you’re able to rest assured that the queen size air mattress is capable of supporting sleepers up to 220 kg.

Similarly to the King Koil mattresses, which are working directly to compete against SoundAsleep, you can expect support and inflation to remain superior night after night. This is down to the fact that the pump will work to automatically detect, adjust and enhance your support level. Essentially, this means there’s no sagging after a night’s use.

This is particularly important for long-term use on air mattresses because you will need to be sure you’re getting the correct support night after night. An air bed that slowly dips or sinks over the course of the evening will leave you with rather severe back pain.

Added Features

To add to the already superior mattress experience on the Dream Series air bed, you’re also getting an included carry bag along with the mattress’s built-in Comfortcoil Technology & internal high-capacity pump.

As you would agree, this is a much more efficient and accurate means of inflating your new air bed, when comparing it to a manual pump. However, you are still able to use manual options with this mattress should you be away from an outlet.

As we mentioned above, the thick flocked top on this mattress does provide an added feature in that there is enhanced durability when compared with competitively priced and similarly designed air mattresses.

You’ll find:

  • A Storage Bag
  • A Smart Air Pump
  • Thick Upper Flocking
  • An Anti-slip Base Covering
  • One-year Warranty

That said, there aren’t all too many features here, though the mattress is comfortable, durable and going to last a long time before you need to replace it.

The Takeaway

To wrap up our look at the Dream Series Mattress, the $400 air bed is an affordable, robust and dependable air bed for routine use – something we can’t say for a lot of other air mattresses out there.

Like a lot of other inflatable mattresses on the market, this one is designed to provide optimal support over the long term rather than just as a guest bed or an ‘on and off again’ mattress. This means if you’re looking for an inflatable bed that you can use to remedy or simply reduce joint pain and pressure point problems, this one is for you.

You can find these mattresses available on Amazon as well as the local retailers who work to stock mattresses for either camping or guest bedrooms.
