Tempur-Pedic Temper Cloud Mattress Review

In 1992, the mattress industry was revolutionized when little known company that was contracted to the NASA space agency produced a new type of foam. The company was called Temour and their goal had been to come up with a better type off om that would provide better shock resistance to the seats that NASA astronauts were sitting on. The scientists at Tempur quickly realized that there was a wider application for their new ‘memory foam’, such as in mattresses.

Tempur’s release of the memory foam mattress gave people a level pf responsiveness and comfort that was unprecedented. In 2012, the company, then known as Tempur-Pedic, merged with iconic mattress manufacturer Sealy. Over the kast eight years, Tempur-Pedic has become a market leader in the mattress industry.

In this article, we provide an unbiased review of the Tepmer Cloud, one of the most popular memory foam mattresses in the Tempur-Pedic range.

Breaking Down the Tempur Cloud Mattress

The Tempur Cloud mattress has four parts t its construction. The bottom layer is a base foam designed to provide maximum support. On top of that is the main layer of Tempur foam which acts as a transition between the base and the extra soft layer that is above this layer. It has a quick response so that you don’t sink down too far. On top of the Tempur foam layer is layer of Tempur Extra Soft (ES) foam. This layer provides a luxuriant slow response to allow you to sink into the mattress.

The outer layer of the mattress is a Smartclimate System cover. It delivers the coolness that you need to offset the natural heat build-up that comes with all memory foam mattresses. This cover has a stretchy nd soft fell that you will love. It also features a zipper to allow for the cover to be removed for washing.

Mattress Firmness

The Tempur Cloud mattress rates as a 6.5 on the firmness scale. That makes it an ideal choice for those who sleep on their back or stomach. However, people who sleep on their side may find this mattress to be a little too firm for comfort. As a result, it might not provide enough pressure point relief through the shoulders and hips.

Memory foam mattresses naturally have a slower response than other mattresses. This can result in what many people refer to as the ‘stuck in the mud’ effect.

Suitability for Couples

When it comes to the issue of suitability for couples, there are two key issues in a mattress. These are the amount of motion transfer and the edge support. You don’t want one person’s motion to impact on the other and you do not want the mattress edge to feel like it is going to cave in.

When it comes to motion transfer, the Tempur Cloud does a great job of isolating the motion of each sleeper. That is a trademark of all memory foam mattresses and it ensures that neither partner’s movements will impact the other.

In terms of edge support, the Tempur Cloud does a good job of providing the firmness you need to feel supported. When you sit on the edge of the mattress, you do not feel as if it is going to collapse under you. And when you lie on it, you don’t feel as if you are about to fall off the edge!

Coolness

It is well known that memory foam mattresses tend to get quite hot in the middle of the night. In order to offset this effect, the Tempur Cloud has a cover that has been specifically designed to cool you down. It has special moisture wicking properties and other cooling properties. The mattress does a good job of balancing the temperature to provide a neutral result that is neither too hot or too cold.

When you but a Tempr-Pedic mattress, you have the luxury of sleeping on it for 100 nights before making your final decision. If, during that 100 days you decide that this is not the ideal mattress for you, you can return it no questions asked. Tempur-Pedic will come and retake the mattress at no extra cost to you.
