BedShed Overview

Bedshed is one of the largest mattress bedding and furniture retailers in Australia. They have been operating since 1980, which was when their first store opened in Perth, Western Australia.

Bedshed now operate a network of 36 stores throughout the states of Western Australia, Victoria, Queensland and ACT. Every store is staffed by genuine experts in the industry who are dedicated to helping customers find the perfect sleep solution.

The majority of Bedshed stores are locally owned and operated.

Bedshed Mattress Range

Bedshed stock all of the leading mattress brands, including:

• Sealey

• Sleepmaker

• Tempur

• Kingsdown

• Dreamsense

• Insignia

In addition to mattresses, they also sell bed frames, bedroom furniture, children’s furniture, bed linen and other bedroom accessories.

It should be noted that Bedshed prices are generally higher than the new batch of online mattress brands. This is due to the traditional markup model rather than a higher quality of mattress being supplied. The point of difference is that Bedshed claims to offer greater personal customer service.

Brands Focus

When you go in to buy a mattress, the range of brand options can seem overwhelming. To help you drill down on the best brand for you, let’s take a look at each brand that Bedshed offers in a bit more detail.

Tempur

Tempur emerged as a top selling mattress brand in the 1990s. Their point of difference was the use of high-end memory foam. Since then they have expanded their range to include pocketed coils to provide even more support. Users usually provide positive reviews in terms of comfort and support. However, Tempur mattresses are considerably more expensive than other options, especially those made in Australia.

Prices for a Tempur mattress range from $2899-$14,999.

Dreamsense

Bedshed are the exclusive stockists of Dreamsense mattresses. The Dreamsense range runs from budget to high-end. They offer a range of firmnesses along with a selection of heights and profile options. Dreamsense mattresses are fitted with pocket springs along with memory foam in a range of grades.

Online customer reviews of Dreamsense mattresses are generally positive. However, some reviewers have noted that it takes a while to establish comfort on the mattress. Others have had problems with the wear of the mattress over time.

Dreamsense mattresses range in price from $799-$4299.

Insignia

The Insignia brand of mattresses have established their point of difference through the highly breathable design that they incorporate. This is accomplished with the use of such technologies as Tencel and Active Air Mesh. As a result they provide a cooler night’s sleep for people living in temperate climates. Insignia mattresses incorporate pocketed spring support and are available in medium, firm and plus options.

While customer reviews are generally positive, some users have noted that the mattress begins to sag after several months of use.

Insignia mattresses come in a price range between $1999 and $3699.

SleepMaker

SleepMaker is an Australian owned and operated mattress manufacturing company. They have been around for nearly 100 years, and have earned themselves a reputation for excellent quality, service and value. They offer six mattress ranges, with the two most popular sellers being Miracoil and Cocoon. Both of these mattresses have been designed in conjunction with leading Australian physiotherapists and chiropractors to ensure optimum ergonomics.  They also feature zoned support.

Sleepmaker mattresses get high marks from most customers. A few purchases, however, have not been impressed with the durability of their mattress.

The price range for sleep maker mattresses is between $1099 and $7399.

Kingsdown

Kingsdown is an international supplier of high-end mattresses. Their luxury range has features such as quilted pillow tops, high-end memory foam and zone pocket coils. Their range offers a full selection of firmnesses.

Quite a number of reviewers of Kingsdown mattresses have noted issues with durability.

Kingsdown mattresses price range of between $3999 and $10,499.

Sealy

Sealy mattresses have established themselves as a premium supplier of spinal and posture support enhanced mattresses. They use zone support systems to ensure an ergonomically enhanced user experience. This, combined with low pocketed coils, multiple foam furnaces and triple layer padding, positions the spine ideally to relieve pressure and provide ultimate comfort.

While customers give Sealy top marks for spinal support, some have noted problems with the mattress sagging over time.

Sealy  mattresses sell all between $599 and $8199.
